Kalashtami is observed on the eighth lunar day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (waning moon) and is dedicated to Lord Kala Bhairava, a fierce form of Lord Shiva.
Devotees worship Lord Kala Bhairava to seek protection from negative energies and obstacles. Special rituals and fasting are performed to honor the deity, believed to guard against evil and grant strength and courage. Temples dedicated to Bhairava hold night-long vigils and prayers on this day.

In 2024 first Kalashtami vrat is on 4th January followed by, 2nd February, 3rd March, 2nd April, 1st May, 30th May, 28th June, 28th July, 26th August, 24th September, 24th October, 22nd November, and the last Kalashtami date in 2024 marks on 22nd December. Devotees are requested to fast and offer pooja on all these Kalashtami days for the well-being of their own and beloved ones.
