Shashti is the sixth lunar day observed twice each lunar month, dedicated to different deities, often associated with Lord Kartikeya and Goddess Durga.
Shashti is celebrated with fasting and worship, especially by devotees of Lord Kartikeya, the god of war, and Goddess Durga. Special prayers and rituals are performed to invoke courage, protection, and victory over evil. The day holds regional importance in South India and northern states.

The observance of Shashti fosters spiritual discipline and physical endurance. Many families observe this day with offerings, community feasts, and cultural events. Shashti also forms a part of the Navratri festival cycle in some regions.
In 2014 first Shashti vrat is on 6th January followed by, 4th February, 6th March, 5th April, 4th May, 3rd June, 3rd July, 1st August, 31st August, 29th September, 29th October, 27th November, and the last Shashti date in 2014 marks on 26th December. Devotees are requested to fast and offer pooja on all these Shashti days for the well-being of their own and beloved ones.
