The Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank Ltd The MSCB is not only an Apex Co-operative Bank for the State of Maharashtra, but a premier co-operative bank and has initiated certain pioneering schemes for the co-operative banking sector in India. As far as the state of Maharashtra is concerned, the Bank serves as a balancing centre for the surplus resources of co-operatives in the State and thereby ensures their multifaceted development and progress. Besides, it provides normal banking services to its customers, which include latest ones like RTGS, Demat and various facilities for NRIs.In the age of competition, it has become imperative for MSC Bank to give incentive to its creditworthy borrowers in terms of interest rate rebate.Generally, for the societies from a particular sector, the same rate of interest is charged irrespective of the quality of the asset. The Bank therefore, embarked on an extensive credit rating programme based on financial parameters of the borrower and its technical and managerial competitiveness. The factors that were considered and the weightage afforded to each of these factors varied with the type of institution e.g. DCC Bank, Urban Coop. Banks, Sugar factories, Spinning mills, Processing Societies and Service Societies etc. Cut-off points were determined for each sector and 1 % rebate in the rate of interest offered to them depending on the facilities enjoyed by them during the year 2009-10.
